In it's pre-war days it was called Pittsburgh, now it's simply known as The Pitt. The renaming of this city is perfect for the living conditions is hell itself. During the Sino-American War, Pittsburgh and Grafton were the major producers of steel for the weapons of war. So various environmental laws were overlooked or just flat out ignored for the sake of war production. The air and waterways became choked with pollution of all kinds. Spend enough time exposed to the air or drink the polluted water and you'll become a Trog as the locals call them. Similar to ghouls except much faster and stronger. Just recently a group calling themselves The Pittsburgh Union has enlisted The Responders based in Appalachia to help find mercenaries to travel to The Pitt and rid the place of a group of slavers called The Fanatics. The Fanatics took over after Ishmael Ashur - a former Brotherhood of Steel member - and his followers abandoned The Pitt for a better life elsewhere and the power vacuum it created attracted The Fanatics.
