This large Victorian park was bequeathed to the people of Lisburn by benefactor Sir Richard Wallace n 1884.At 26 acres it is the largest park/sports/play area in Lisburn. It has a variety of leisure activities for young and old. Football, tennis, jogging, cycling on the former veledrome track, cricket, dog walking, 5 a side pitch, sports pavillion, duck pond, children's adventure play area and a Victorian bandstand. ( A velodrome was opened in 1953, but this fell into disrepair. The removal of one of the bankings was proposed as part of the park's redevelopment plan in 2008, to open up views in the park. ) The park has had a major overhaul with major landscaping and modernisation completed in 2011. It is a major asset to the City of Lisburn. The park provides a green oasis in an otherwise urban landscape and is a very popular meet up area.
