The Little St Bernard Pass (French: Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, Italian: Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo) is a mountain pass in the Alps on the French-Italian border. The pass is positioned at 2188 meters above sea level. It is located between Savoie, France, and Aosta Valley, Italy, to the south of the Mont Blanc Massif, exactly on the main alpine watershed. It’s widely recognized as one of the most spectacular mountain drives in the world. The road across the pass connects Bourg-Saint-Maurice in France with Morgex in Italy. Formerly known as Col de Joux Pass or Col de Jupiter Pass, numerous archaeological and historical finds provide evidence of the frequentation of the area since the ancient times. The pass is usually closed due to heavy snowfall by October at the latest, and rarely reopens before the beginning of June.
