For more info www.theatriolo.com TRANSCRIPT: In this film, we will show you what happens at a Theatr Iolo audio described performance. A young boy and his parents walk through the entrance. NARRATOR: You will be greeted by the audio describer. The Theatr Iolo Audience Host will then welcome you to the show, check your tickets and see if you need anything. You will then go into the theatre space for the Touch Tour A Touch Tour lets you have a close look at colours and feel the size and texture of materials. AUDIO DESCRIBER: Actors show the young boy parts of their costume and he gets to feel the badger’s hat and the furry ears on top of Fox’s hat. The audio describer describes the set in detail, explaining how autumn leaves are stuck to clear plastic umbrellas to look like trees. Then the boy gets to feel the tree trunks that have real wooden branches stuck to the front. The Audio Describer explains more about the puppet portal that is a large oval gap in the central tree trunk. She gives more detail on some of the props in the show including describing some colourful mugs, a rubbish bin, a bright yellow large digger claw and a small cement mixer. The boy is now looking closely and feeling fake dandelions and pretty blue and purple flowers and green fern leaves in a metal bucket. As his parents look on smiling, the boy now plays with a prototype puppet to feel the size and weight and how it moves. NARRATOR: After the Touch Tour you will be shown to your reserved seat. You will be given your headset and shown how it works. You can then listen to the Audio Introduction, which are some useful notes on the characters and scene changes in the show. AUDIO DESCRIBER: In the describer’s booth, the audio describer is away from the audience and talking directly to the boy through the headset. No other audience members can hear the audio description taking place. NARRATOR: As the show carries on, you will hear the descriptions of the parts of the show that are only visual to help you follow along with the story. At the end of the show you will hand in your headset and the audio describer will check in with you. AUDIO DESCRIBER: The lights fade in the auditorium. The Theatr Iolo logo which is a red circle with white lettering appears.
