I've previously listed the ugliest buildings and ugliest places in Stockholm, but this time I'm presenting the ugliest town in Sweden! Follow me to the town of Borlänge in the county of Dalarna, and marvel at the dreary concrete architecture. Borlänge, along with many other cities and towns in Sweden, used to be quite beautiful in the 1900s until all the old buildings started to be torn down in the 1960s. An association called the Architect Uprising (Arkitektupproret) wanted to illustrate how ugly the town centers have become, so in 2020 they called for a vote on social media to determine the ugliest town in Sweden. That's where Borlänge placed at the very top of the list, above the runner up Västerås. But is it all just ugliness? Does Borlänge have other qualities that make up for its ugliness?
