Position of Adverbs l Adverb Placement l Types of Adverbs l Royal Order of Adverbs l Adverbs In today's video , I have discussed the position of Adverbs. Adverbs in sentences are basically used in three positions - Front , Mid & End . If there is one helping verb , Adverb is used between helping verb and main verb . For example: He is slowly reading the book / He will surely help you . If there is more than one helping verb in the Sentence, you will use Adverb after the first helping verb . For example: They should cleverly have dealt with the officers .In the case of Passive voice, Adverb always precedes the main verb .For example: They have been deliberately insulted. Five important rules about the position of Adverbs 1) No adverb is used between Transitive verb and its object. For example: They completed quickly their homework- wrong ( quickly is used between verb and obj ) Correct - They completed their homework quickly. 2) If Adv modifies Adj or another adverb , you place it before those .For example: a) The book is very interesting. b) The old man drives the car extremely carefully. 3) Longer Adverb ( Adverbial phrase) is used after Shorter Adverb For example: I am doing the job here with confidence 4) If you use verb of movement ( go , arrive , enter , walk , come etc ) , you have to use place after it . They went to school quickly. 5) Always use Adverb after Be verb ( is , am , are , was ,were ..... ) , not before .For example: He is always busy .
