Fulbert-X, Cap toe boot - Chestnut & Elephant print brown | Veldtschoen | contemporary classics RS17,800 or USD212.67 (per google today). veldtscheon or stitchdown construction (often interchanged… further explanation below) is a handwelted construction method without a welt. The upper is stitched to the midsole the upper and midsole stitched to the sole. There is some confusion on this construction and the differences. Here is an article from stitchdown. https://www.stitchdown.com/ask-lars/s... Regardless, this is a well made shoe, but what about leather quality? At first glance it’s obvious that this isn’t comparable to a CJ, Alden or Carmina leather. However comparing to shoes in its price point it’s certainly on par with Loake 1880, some Meermin, Santalum and many others. The shoemaker has told me they’re acquiring some Horween and other more common shoe leathers but these are sourced from Agra Leather in India. Tanneries will vary but some calf is from Ultra leather in Ukraine. The calf is full grain and the suede is split (though may not be in the future as they are looking to acquire Stead suede for unlined which will be kept full grain). The real test will be wear, as I said in the video. So keep an eye out on my IG as I’ll have these in regular rotation to try them out. Please share your thoughts. I invested in these shoes (even with their great deal) so you would hear from someone with a lot of high end shoes and what they think of them. Why print elephant? Elephants are endangered and as much as I absolutely love the look of the leather I cannot bring myself to wear them, even if harvested responsibly. So it’s a hard no from me. So I’ll try the print calf. In my mind no different than pebble grain, as long as full grain. From their website: Fulbert-X is a classic work wear boot with the qualities of a rugged combat boot combined in one. The Fulbert boot features a full grain crust leather cap-toe and vamp with an 8-eyelet Blucher derby design featuring Elephant Print leather. The combination of fine grain leather and the elephant print adds to its versatility. The dressier aesthetics of this boot and the combination of Rubber outsole makes these boots very Robust. From office to evening bike ride, these boots are always up-to taking you places. Last: CUERO_B Toe Profile: Round Veldtschoen Construciton Elephant Print and full grain leather upper Full leather lining Leather insole and natural cork filler for utmost comfort Abrasion Resistant Rubber outsole Stacked leather heel with rubber topy Note from the shoemaker post production: Just wanted to share few things 1) stitches on the sole are hand done. Good to hear you feel them as machine 😀 as they are well done. 2) insole is lightly glued so it stays but it can be removed with little push if needed 3) Now, we have the following international leathers available currently.
