Ontario Northland Siemens Charger Brake Test Runs

In December of 2025, Siemens completed the first of three Venture sets for Ontario Northland, composed of a Siemens Charger and three Siemens Venture cars. The trainset was delivered to VIA Rail Canada's Toronto Maintenance Centre where it was unveiled to the public by politicians behind the relaunch of The Northlander. Ahead of final delivery to Ontario Northland's own shops, a set of test runs needed to be completed. The Metrolinx Oakville Sub between Port Credit and Park Royal was the perfect setting to allow a series of acceleration and braking tests to be completed. Between each run, a foreman inspected the track where the high speed braking had taken place. Changing ends west of the controlled location at Park Royal, and at Port Credit GO Station east of the controlled location at Port Credit, the train would complete several test runs, of which the first three are included in this video.
