The plywood manufacturing process begins with selecting high-quality logs, typically hardwood or softwood. These logs are debarked and then peeled into thin layers, called veneers, using a rotary lathe. The veneers are then cut to the desired size and dried to reduce moisture content. Next, the veneers are layered with the grain of each sheet placed at right angles to the previous one. This cross-grain structure increases the strength and stability of the plywood. A resin adhesive, usually phenolic or urea-formaldehyde, is applied between the layers. The layered veneers are then pressed together under high heat and pressure to bond them securely. This process ensures that the plywood is strong, durable, and resistant to warping. After pressing, the plywood is trimmed to size and sanded for a smooth finish. Finally, it undergoes quality inspection before being packaged and shipped for commercial use.
