Union Pacific's Great Big Rollin' Railroad in Trainz

1969 had marked one whole century since Union Pacific assisted in the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad linking the industrial east with the wild western United States! Looking to continue the celebration and inspire a sense of pride, UP reached out to Bill Fries, better known by his truck driving country singer persona, C. W. McCall, to compose a song for a 1970 advertising campaign. Inspired by the railroad's historical impact, he wrote Great Big Rollin' Railroad. The song's lyrics boasted UP's expansive history and rail network along with their dependable service. UP's then-president, John Kenefick, LOVED the song, and essentially turned it into a theme song for the railroad. Numerous variations could be heard in all sorts of commercials as part of the "We Can Handle It" campaign, and it even made an appearance as a nine-screen cycloramic slideshow for the 1974 World's Fair in Spokane, Washington. Today the song has remained quite popular amongst railfans! History lesson aside, it's been well over a year since my last Trainz video, and since I've gotten a much more powerful computer in that time (the game's performance is still pretty iffy, but its more tolerable lol), I decided it was about time to return.
