Lewistown PA is home to the oldest, structure built by the PRR that is still in use today, the Lewistown Station. Opened in 1849, it still serves about 8200 passengers per year on Amtrak's twice daily "Pennsylvanian" - once east bound and then later in the day, westbound. While we were there we were lucky enough enough to catch two Norfolk Southern freight trains, one each direction, plying the mainline between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. Before we wrapped up our day in Lewistown we stopped across the Juniata River from the station at the Stone Arch Bridge park to see the old stone bridge. Built in 1813 on the Harrisburg-Pittsburgh Turnpike to span Jack's Creek, the bridge was restored in 2006 and the small quiet park built to create a quiet retreat in town. #railroad #amtrak #norfolksouthern #prr #lewistown #train Lewistown PRR station - https://www.greatamericanstations.com... **************************** Our Merch- https://my-store-e8ce93.creator-sprin... **************************** =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Music by Slip.stream - "Black Mountain" - https://slip.stream/tracks/8646f0e6-1... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
