A Step by Step Guide to Amanita Muscaria | Ecology, Harvest & Topical Tincture

Join me as I take you step by step through working with Amanita muscaria, from finding it in the forest to making a topical tincture using a ttraditional method and also a dual extraction. We begin out in the woodland, looking at where Amanita muscaria grows, the trees it partners with and what its presence tells us about habitat and ecology. I also share how to recognise healthy fruiting sites and how to harvest respectfully. Back in kitchen, I walk through the full tincture making process, including drying the caps, explaining the chemical interactions of ibotenic acid and muscimol and showing how to make a dual extraction using alcohol and water. This method is shown for external use only but I also explain how the same extraction process applies to other medicinal mushrooms like turkey tail and reishi.
