The Epic of Gilgamesh predates the biblical book of Genesis by 700 years and is the oldest written story known to humanity. There is little doubt that the writers of the Bible lifted the story of the great flood from the Epic of Gilgamesh, which also included stories of a man's search for the secret to eternal life and revealed the reason why we humans must die. This particular tablet is 4,000 years old and is housed in the Slemani Museum in Sulamaniyah, Iraq.
