Join us for an exciting Creative DNA - Fashion Fridays conversation, as it explores a critical discussion for designers seeking to move from local visibility to international relevance, sustainability, and commercial success. Moderated by Creative DNA regional delivery partner, Silvia Tonui, joined by three exceptional leaders whose work sits at the intersection of culture, commerce, policy, and global fashion systems: ✨ Dr Avis Ellis-Charles – Award-winning fashion professional, academic, and global consultant with over four decades of experience shaping fashion as a driver of cultural equity, economic development, and social impact. Her work spans the UN system, British Council, World Bank, luxury fashion houses, and historic cultural institutions. ✨ Rasheeda Nalumoso – Head of Arts and Regional Creative Economy Lead (SSA Arts) at the British Council. Rasheeda is an ideas-led cultural strategist leading complex international programmes that support creative economies, global collaboration, and market access across Sub-Saharan Africa. ✨ DANAYI MADONDO – Zimbabwean fashion designer at HAUS OF STONE SHOWROOM, textile artist, and multidisciplinary storyteller whose work centres on sustainable, regenerative design and cultural preservation. Her practice positions fashion as an archive and a tool for expressing African narratives on global platforms. Since its launch in Kenya in 2019, Creative DNA has evolved from a pioneering fashion business incubation programme into a pan-African platform for creative enterprise development. What began as an initiative to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and networks of fashion businesses in Kenya has grown into a programme with reach across Sub-Saharan Africa, including Uganda, Senegal, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Ghana. As Creative DNA continues to grow its footprint across Africa, we are developing the Creative DNA Alumni Database, a platform that will showcase fashion entrepreneurs from Sub-Saharan Africa and connect them to regional and global market opportunities.
