Song: Not Sure Yet Artist: Andy Lange Film: Camelot (1967) Pairing: Arthur/Guenevere I'm sure this isn't the Arthur/Guinevere vid a lot of you were hoping for, but I recently watched "Camelot," having seen and fallen in love with the musical over a year ago, and watching this film reignited my love for this version and its portrayal of the Arthur/Guinevere (or "Guenevere" as they spell it in the movie) relationship. To be perfectly honest, I'm much more content with the way the pairing plays out here than what happened in S4 of "Merlin" -- yes, it's an absolute tragedy (for Lancelot/Guenevere and Arthur/Lancelot as well, although I would firmly argue that this movie is more about Arthur and Guenevere than about Lancelot), but it's tragic in a way that I can accept, if that makes sense. ANYWAY, basically, I love this movie (as cheesy as it is) and these two to death. Starting this vid was much more difficult than I anticipated: I needed to find a song that didn't feel particularly modern, as the film has a very 1960s feel to it. Thankfully I came across this song during one of my "Leverage" rewatches. Not only is it fairly neutral, but I feel the lyrics (few as they are) are really appropriate for Arthur's situation -- he starts the film with no idea how (or desire) to rule. Then he comes across Guenevere, and while he's equally as clueless about her, he falls in love, and both Guenevere and his love for her motivate him to take charge, transform Camelot, and become the "king of legend," so to speak. I'd like to apologize for the quality of the dialogue. The audio from my download would not work in my editor, nor could I find another download or convert the files so it would work. I had to search far and wide to find ways to capture the audio that I needed (finding, to my absolute frustration, that my laptop doesn't have "What U Hear"). Unfortunately I wasn't able to attain all of the dialogue I wanted to use in order to make the vid easier to follow for those unfamiliar with this retelling of the legend, so if you have any questions about the story etc., please feel free to ask. Despite these obstacles, I had such a wonderful time making it, and I hope anyone else who is a fan of the movie (or just the Arthur/Guinevere romance/relationship in general) enjoys it as well. For those of you unfamiliar with "Camelot" or "The Once and Future King," Arthur's nickname for Guenevere is "Jenny." ***** Audio: Mordred: Kill the Queen or kill the law. Arthur: I've been ill at ease in my crown. Until I dropped from the tree and my eyes beheld you.... For the first time I felt like a king. I was glad to be king. Arthur: Most astonishingly of all I wanted to be the most ... heroic ... the wisest ... most splendid king ever to sit on any throne. Arthur: If I could choose from every woman who breathes on this earth, the face I would most love ... the touch, the heart, the smile, the voice, the laugh, the soul itself; every detail and feature to the last strand of the hair ... they would all be Jenny's. Mordred: Let her die, your life is over. Let her live, your life's a fraud.
