Watsonville High School stabbing leaves two injured, 16yo in custody, and assault of 14yo student

Watsonville Police say a suspect is in custody following a double stabbing at Watsonville High School. According to WPD, officers, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, and the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team responded to a stabbing at the high school around 10:04 a.m. on Thursday. A sergeant arrived at the scene less than two minutes later and found a 16-year-old suspect being held down by school staff. Police confirm that the suspect was taken into custody. A 14-year-old student and a staff member were stabbed during the incident. Aid was rendered before ambulances arrived. According to WPD, a second incident stemmed from the stabbing, and that incident is also being investigated. Another student suspect fled from the scene of the stabbing, gathered two other students, and attacked another 14-year-old student. Police say the incidents happened one right after the other.
