The Envy Multifocal Lens is BACK! Shannon Wong, MD.
The envy multifocal lens was voluntarily recalled by Bausch and Lomb on March 27, 2025 due to an increased incidence of an inflammatory reaction in eyes receiving this lens known as “TASS.” I actually had 6 cases of TASS in my own patients prior to the recall. Thankfully all of these patients fully recovered, are seeing well and will have no long-term issues. On April 24, the recall ended after Bausch and Lomb determined the cause and remedy for the origin of the inflammatory reaction associated with this lens implant. So, what do I think of the envy multifocal lens? Well, I’ll post a video within the next month with a full formal review. But it is a great premium multifocal lens….maybe the best one out there in 2025? And we will resume using it for our patients starting Monday, May 12. The Envy is back! Thankfully.
