The song ¿Por Que? composed in a danza rhythm by Rudolf Palm, is performed by Jorge Martina (tenor) and Jaime Martina (piano). The recording took place during a concert on 24 September 2023 in the Amstelkerk in Amsterdam and was organized by the Palm Music Foundation (www.palmmusicfoundation.com). Rudolf Palm (Curaçao, 1880-1950) played piano, organ, clarinet, flute and saxophone. From the age of seven he received music lessons from his grandfather Jan Gerard Palm. Rudolf Palm was organist for many years at the Protestant Fort Church, the Emanu-El synagogue, the Mikvé Israel synagogue and the Freemason Lodge Igualdad. Besides being a talented performer, Rudolf Palm also made a name for himself as a composer. He wrote more than 140 compositions, including a number of songs. The composed the song ¿Por Qué? on the text of a poem by the Curaçao writer and poet D. Dario Salas (1872-1937), an important exponent of the romantic Spanish school in Curaçao.
