1984 anti-Sikh riots: Delhi court directs CBI to frame charges against Jagdish Tytler

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on August 30 ordered the framing of charges against former Congress MP Jagdish Tytler in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case related to the killings of Sikhs in the Pul Bangash area of Delhi. The court found sufficient grounds to proceed with charges against Tytler, including murder, rioting, and abetment, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Speaking on the same, Harmeet Singh Kalka spoke to ANI and said that, today is a day of happiness as justice has been served even after the delay. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had previously filed a chargesheet against Tytler last year, accusing him of inciting violence during the riots, which led to the deaths of three people near Pul Bangash Gurdwara in North Delhi. ► Subscribe to The Economic Times for the latest video updates.
