The Panther A is a medium tank equipped with a 75mm cannon, a (coaxial) 7.92mm machine gun and a (pintle) mounted 7.62mm machine gun. The Panther A has a crew of 5, 3 in the turret and 2 in the hull. The Panther A is a modification of the Panther D, the differences between these two vehicles are: • Maximum speed reduction from 55 to 46km/h • Maximum reverse speed reduction from 4 to 3.3km/h • Smoke grenade launcher rounds increased from 6 to 12 • Horizontal guidance speed increased from 4.2 to 14°s • Maximum vertical guidance decreased from 20 to 18°s • Addition of (pintle) mounted machine gun • (BR) increased from 5.3 to 6.0 The Panther A 75mm cannon has access to 3 types of round: • (HE) which has 12mm of penetration at 100m • (APCBC) which has 188mm of penetration at 100m • (APCR) which has 224mm of penetration at 100m The Panther A is equipped with smoke grenade launcher which fire 1 grenades in front of the tank per use. The Panther A has a maximum speed of 46km/h (RB) and a reverse speed of 3.3km/h (RB). The Panther A has a fairly quick speed gain to 25km/h but with a minor speed gain reduction from 26km/h to 35km/h with a larger speed gain reduction from 36km/h to 46km/h. The Panther A has a maximum armour thickness of 110mm and a minimum thickness of 16mm. Only the (cupola) of the Panther A is 110mm thick with the next thickest piece of armour being the 100mm thick flat plate on the turret front. The Panther A has quite thin armour for (BR) 6.0 so most tanks at its rank can easily shoot through the turret front. Key: (Coaxial) = The machine gun that is mounted parallel to the main gun (Pintle) = The machine gun that is roof mounted and has a wider range of motion (BR) = Battle Rating (HE) = High Explosive (APCBC) = Armour-Piercing, Capped, Ballistic Capped (APCR) = Armour-Piercing Composite Rigid (RB) = Realistic Battles (cupola) = part of the tank which is used by the commander to observe the battle field.
