Truth In Scripture Pastor Rick Kabrick Sunday, March 9, 2025 The Gospel of John. Chapter 1. Part 1. In the beginning was the Word. Pastor Rick KabrickPO BOX 595 Tiverton RI 02878www.paypal.me/PastorRickkwww.truthinscripture.org JOH 14:6, John 14:6 says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through ME”. JOH 10:33, “We are not stoning you for any good work but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be GOD.”Verse after verse shows exactly what Yeshua claimed about HIMself and what HIS disciples found out to be the truth. Matthew was written to Jews who were familiar with the OT. Matthew records how Yeshua fulfilled the promises of the OT. The Gospel of Matthew focuses on Yeshua as the King of the Jews.Mark was written to people in the Roman Empire who were unfamiliar with Judaism. It focuses on what Yeshua did, events like miracles. Luke focuses on Yeshua’s humanity. Written more for a gentile audience. Luke was a gentile, he was not a Jew. Luke was one of Paul’s traveling companions.John was written by an eyewitness to Yeshua’s Ministry. He was chosen as an Apostle. John was written (for one reason) to establish that Yeshua is the eternal GOD Who became a man to be the perfect Sacrifice for man. John was a first century fisherman, a very tough life in any timeframe, none more so that then being a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee.Yet, no other man in any century saw more than John saw in the first century regarding the LORD. The author of John had to be one of the 12 disciples because he was an eyewitness to the events in the gospel. Thus, the author had to be one of the inner circle of three disciples (James, John, and Peter) because he was among the first Mary told of the resurrection. JOH 8:56-59, Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!” “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid HIMself, slipping away from the temple grounds. Turning water into wine: The first miracle, which took place at the wedding feast in Cana. Healing the royal official's son in Capernaum. Healing the paralytic: Took place at Bethesda.Feeding the 5,000.Walking on water.Healing the man born blind.Raising Lazarus. These miracles illustrate HIS identity as GOD. JOH 1:1-3, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD. HE was with GOD in the beginning. Through HIM all things were made; without HIM nothing was made that has been made.3 times John uses the Greek verb ginomai = to come into being and the point is that everything that was ever made, is being made or ever will be made is all made by Yeshua. The term “life” zoe occurs thirty-six times in John. Can apply to physical life but much more often it refers to spiritual life. The life was embodied in Yeshua, HE is the “life” that is the “light of men.” In HIM GOD’s purpose and power are made available to human beings. HE is their ultimate hope. The notion that the Gospel of John is strictly a Christian document, set in opposition to Judaism, makes no sense in the light of John’s opening line. For John, everything begins with the Torah.Yeshua did not begin to exist when the heavens and the earth were made. HE had glory with the Father “before the world was” (JOH 17:5). When you look at the book of Genesis and see that when GOD created the heavens and earth, there was a lack of order. The world was empty or void, it was formless it lacked order. And the LORD HIM self brought about order. What John is revealing in this gospel (among other things) is how we can have the order of GOD in our life. JOH 1:6-8, There was a man sent from GOD whose name was John. HE came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through HIM all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. JOH 1:9-10, The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. HE was in the world, and though the world was made through HIM, the world did not recognize HIM. 14 The Word became flesh and made HIS dwelling among us. We have seen HIS glory, the glory of the One and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the One I spoke about when I said, ‘HE who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me. Yet all this time HE was GOD as well as man! This union of two natures in Yeshua’s One Person is without a doubt the greatest of all mysteries of any religion. It is just one of those great truths, which are not meant to be curiously pried into but to be reverently believed.
