► WATCH ALL SYNTH VIDEOS: • SYNTHESIZERS - Vintage and New ►Vintage Digital Pad Sample Pack: https://vultureculture.live/products/... With all the hype about Oberheim releasing their first new synth in 35 years, the OB-X8, I decided to get my hands on a vintage Matrix 6 from a venomous snake milker in Miami to see what all the fuss was about. Oberheim is known for the classic synth sounds from songs like "Jump" by Van Halen and "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. The Matrix series was Oberheim's last ditch effort to stay afloat during the analog synth exodus of the mid eighties. Coming out in 1985, the same year the company went bankrupt, the Matrix 6 cut some corners from the legendary OB-Xa, like swapping out voltage-controlled oscillators for digitally-controlled ones, while simultaneously adding a modulation matrix that unlocked much deeper synthesis than his previous instruments could achieve. Could this vintage Oberheim synth be a better bang for your buck than the $5,000 OB-X8?
