Rishi Sunak received a warm and vibrant welcome upon his arrival in Delhi for the G20 leaders' summit on Friday, marking a historic moment as the first British prime minister of Indian heritage to visit India. Accompanied by his wife, Akshata Murty, the daughter of India's billionaire Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murty, they were greeted at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport by Indian Minister for Consumer Affairs and Environment, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, along with British High Commissioner to New Delhi, Alex Ellis. Notably, Mr. Sunak did not receive a personal welcome on the airport tarmac from his Indian counterpart, perhaps understandable given that Narendra Modi is hosting the summit of around 30 world leaders and engaging in bilateral talks with 15 of them on the sidelines. However, there were no large crowds to greet Mr. Sunak either.
