Devarayanadurga Hills (DD Hills) in Tumakuru, Karnataka, currently has specific "no entry" restrictions primarily concerning overnight visits and heavy vehicle access. While generally open for day-time tourism in 2025, visitors should adhere to the following timing and access rules: Current Entry Restrictions (2025) General Opening Hours: The hills are typically open to the public from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Overnight Ban: Public entry is strictly prohibited during the night, generally from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, particularly during high-alert periods like New Year's Eve or holidays, to prevent rash driving and encounters with wild animals in the surrounding forest. Heavy Vehicles: Heavy goods vehicles are restricted from internal roads during peak hours (typically 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM) to manage traffic safety. Temple Timings: While the hills may open early, the Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy temple at the summit often opens around 8:00 AM. Visitor Guidelines Parking Charges: There is a nominal parking fee of approximately ₹20 to ₹40 for vehicles. Limited Summit Parking: Parking space at the very top near the temple steps is extremely narrow; visitors are advised to park slightly further down the hill road. Monkey Menace: Visitors are strongly cautioned against carrying plastic bags, food items, or water bottles openly due to aggressive monkeys at the summit. Amenities: There are very few shops or restaurants on the hill. It is highly recommended to carry your own food and water.
