This was my first time traveling to Playa del Carmen, and we stayed at Occidental at Xcaret. Before our trip, I tried researching what excursions and activities were included with the resort, but I couldn’t really find clear information anywhere. So I decided to put together a few videos showing what you can actually do once you arrive and book directly through the resort. This video is all about our day at Xcaret Park, which is connected to the hotel. We booked it through the resort, and just like our Cozumel dive, everything was easy and organized. We had a one-day pass and walked the entire park. Some people say you can do it in half a day, but I honestly think that’s only possible if you skip the included activities. The park offers three free activities with admission: • Two different river swims • A boat ride through the park We did one of the river swims and the boat ride, and even that felt like a full day. There’s a lot of walking, and lockers can feel far from certain activities, so plan accordingly. In this video, you’ll see: • Flamingos, a Baird’s tapir, and tons of coatis • The aviary with macaws and a toucan • Waterfalls, pelicans, and the butterfly enclosure • The river swim • And yes… the very smelly pigs at the end Some things I didn’t get on video include the aquarium (with manatees, sea turtles, and dolphins), as well as paid experiences like swimming with dolphins and the underwater helmet dive. There are also different ticket packages available. We had a one-day pass, but I met people who had multi-day access — and some who had park admission included with their entire resort stay. You can take a small boat from the hotel lobby to the park, but it’s only about a five-minute walk. We even went back to the hotel for lunch and re-entered through the beach entrance. We also attended the 7:30 pm show, and it was absolutely beautiful. It showcases Mexico’s culture and history in such an impressive way and is definitely worth staying for. If you're researching what you can actually do at the Occidental at Xcaret, I hope this video helps make planning easier! More videos from this trip coming soon. 😊
