Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha four-pole wiring kit on our 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Now our Tekonsha four-pole wiring kit is going to provide us with a four-pole trailer connector so we can safely get down the road and have all the required lights on our trailer, like our taillights or turn signals and our brake lights. Our wiring is designed to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times. So it will be right by your hitch whenever you need to hook up. But if you do want a more permanent mounting solution, we do have mounting brackets available here etrailer.com it will have a nice clean finished look to it. But if you don't use a mounting bracket, you can actually just take the dust cover, we can move it around the safety chain on our hitch. That way it'll keep the excess wire off the ground and it'll be right there ready for us when we want to use it.Our wiring kit is designed for the factory tow package. So we're going to have one plug on the bottom, underneath the car that will plug the four-pole end into. And then on the inside of the hatch, on the driver's side, we're going to have another harness that we're going to plug in that will have a few relays to activate the factory tow package. Our Tekonsha wiring is in a work with the adapters as well. So if you have a trailer or cargo carrier that has a different connector on it, it will work with a four, five, six or seven-way connector. And those are all sold separately. If you have a trailer or a cargo carrier with lights, our Tekonsha wiring is going to make sure that the lights on our Pathfinder match the lights on our trailer, and that it's going to be a seamless operation that when we're going down the road, everyone around us can feel comfortable and safe knowing whether we're going to change lanes slow down or anything else. But now that we've seen the end result of our wiring, let's put it on together. To begin your installation, we're going to open up our rear hatch. We're going to open up the cargo area underneath, and we're going to remove the threshold as well as this panel. Now, right by the latch we're going to have this cover. You want to pop that out first. So we have a flat blade screwdriver, we just coming to the center and we'll pull that little trim piece out. Then we move to the weatherstripping here, where we want to grab the weather stripping and just pull it away from the car. Just get it undone, make it a little bit easier to get the threshold pulled up. I'll just work it going across and we should be able to reach underneath the panel, work your hand under there. We're going to want to lift up. There's a few clips holding it in place and just work our way across releasing those clips. We'll go ahead and set our threshold aside. Now in this cargo area here, we're going to have a total of three screws that are holding it in place. Do you want to grab a 10-millimeter socket and pull those out. Then we can move back to where the threshold was sitting on top of that panel. We're going to have four push pins holding it in place. So you can take a trim panel tool or a flathead screwdriver, you're going to come underneath and we'll pry up on those push pins so we can get everything loose. Now we lift up a little bit on that panel. Keep in mind though that the carpet is attached to the back seat so we're not going to be able to pull it out. But what we want to do is lift it up. If we close the lid should be able to lift it up and rotate it up and out of the way so we got plenty of room to work with. Now we've moved over to the driver's side where our tie-down hooks are. We need to remove these as well, so we can pull that panel up. So we'll take a flat blade screwdriver, and we're going to pop open the covers and that'll expose a nut that's on the inside. So grab another 10-millimeter socket and pull that bolt out. We'll do the same thing for the tie-down hook that's right behind it. With the tie-down hooks removed, we'll come to the cover, we can grab it, pull it outwards a little bit and work it loose and we'll set it aside for right now. So if we look in this area right where we just removed that panel, we're going to have two plugs at the very corner at the very back on the driver's side. It's a little difficult to see, a little difficult to get
