Check out this new exclusive gameplay demo from the upcoming Subliminal developed in Unreal Engine 5. We played this preview with a RTX 5090 in a 4K monitor (no commentary). This single player psychological horror game is inspired by the urban legend of The Backrooms and it will also remind you of Amnesia and Portal. This demo features a shortened intro (voiced by Max Howarth) and a preview of the following zones: The Basement, WaterWorks, Childhood Memories. Description: Somewhere beneath the surface of your memories, something is waiting. At first, you'll sense it behind walls and around corners, or hear the faint sounds of breathing when you stand still. Later, you'll see it, a figure that shouldn't exist, chasing you through decaying hallways and down endless slides. That thing... it's not human. Gameplay Features: Lumen and Nanite: Bleeding-edge lighting and rendering in Unreal Engine 5 to create highly detailed, nostalgic, and often unsettling liminal spaces that are fragments of memories. Light and perspective-based puzzles: Illumination is treated as a physical material that you can manipulate to change the space around you, bending shadows to open doors or altering the environment by changing the lighting. Hostile entities: Described as psychologically terrifying events born from your own consciousness, sensing your movements and hesitation.
