All Metropolitan line London Underground trains - which includes trains that normally pass by at speed and trains not in passenger service - must stop at Preston Road station to switch between human driving and CBTC computer driving. (CBTC = communications-based train control ... every train is in contact with a centralised computer which) However, this requirement does not apply to Chiltern trains which use Network Rail tracks. The scenes with the A stock train and which show trains passing through non-stop were filmed in 2012 - if you look closely the S stock trains are yet to be fitted with their CBTC antenna. Almost everything else was filmed in summer 2025. Lookout for the steam train - former GWR Pannier Tank - one side effect of the installation of CBTC signalling is that incompatible heritage / leisure trains (which have not been fitted with the required communication etc., components) are no longer allowed to travel on these lines. This was filmed during a 'Steam on the Met' event in the 1990s, exact date unknown. btw, Google's automatic 'film location' feature does not seem to recognise 'Preston Road Railway Station' as a valid location!!!
