IKEA, a global leader in home furnishings, is excited to announce the grand opening of its first store in the Southeast on Wednesday, June 29, at 9:00 a.m. The new Atlanta store, spanning an impressive 366,000 square feet, features 10,000 exclusively designed home furnishings and accessories under one roof. This marks IKEA’s 23rd store in the U.S., the third-largest in North America, and the only U.S. IKEA location integrated into a mixed-use development in a central business district. “At IKEA, we strive to help people create a better everyday life. We understand that the comfort, functionality, and style of a home can greatly impact how people experience their space,” said Lynda Mee, Store Manager of IKEA Atlanta. “We are thrilled to be a part of the Atlantic Station project and to bring affordable, stylish, and functional home furnishings to the greater Atlanta area, Georgia, and neighboring states. Our store offers inspiration for every taste and budget.” Unique Shopping Experience at IKEA Atlanta Design Inspiration and Customer Satisfaction IKEA Atlanta provides an extensive selection of 10,000 home furnishing products, including beds, sofas, bookcases, desks, kitchen cabinetry, and appliances. Each item is designed with quality and affordability in mind, carrying a guarantee for material integrity and craftsmanship. The store features 52 inspirational room settings and four fully furnished model homes, reflecting various lifestyles from young professionals to families and empty-nesters. A Family-Friendly Destination IKEA Atlanta includes a supervised children’s play area, Småland, designed as a Swedish farmhouse and forest (for children 37”-54” tall). Kids can collect IKEA SMILE card stamps during visits to Småland and receive a toy on their sixth visit. Ten designated play areas throughout the store offer fun spaces for children with parental supervision. Recognizing that children are an integral part of the home, IKEA encourages young visitors to interact with and explore products. Additional family-friendly features include a Children’s IKEA department, baby strollers, child-height handrails, baby care rooms, and a private nursing room. Dining Options: A Taste of Sweden The 350-seat IKEA Restaurant, the second-largest in North America, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring Swedish specialties like shrimp sandwiches, salmon plates, and the iconic Swedish meatballs, alongside American options including vegetarian, pasta, and chicken dishes. Unique to this location, the IKEA Atlanta Restaurant is the only one in the world to feature grits on the menu. A Café Bistro near the store’s exit offers quick snacks such as hot dogs, cinnamon buns, and frozen yogurt. The Swedish Foodmarket provides a variety of Swedish delicacies, including frozen IKEA meatballs for at-home preparation. Smart Shopping and Sustainability IKEA follows a cost-effective, eco-friendly business model where customers transport and assemble their purchases, keeping prices low. Flat-pack packaging minimizes shipping costs, storage needs, and product damage. IKEA designers focus on cost-effective, sustainable production methods while maintaining quality and style. The company sources materials globally, ensuring competitive pricing without sacrificing environmental responsibility. Convenience at IKEA Atlanta Store signage and product details are available in both English and Spanish. Checkout efficiency is maximized with 22 standard lanes, four self-checkout stations, and 20 mobile cash registers during grand opening week. The parking lot includes 1,600 spaces, 32 accessible spots, 160 loading spaces, and 60 family-designated spaces. IKEA Atlanta is easily accessible via public transit, with the MARTA “Midtown” station connecting to an Atlantic Station Shuttle that stops at the store. For added convenience, IKEA Atlanta features two travelators—multi-level moving sidewalks designed to secure shopping carts. Five designated resting areas with seating and natural light offer shoppers a comfortable break space.
