My name is Furqan and this vlog is about a 4 days trip to offshore Petroleum installation called Veslefrik which is located in Northsea just half an hour by helicopter from Norway`s second largest city Bergen. In this vlog, I’m traveling to an offshore oil rig as a petroleum engineer and showing you what it's really like to live and work there. If you've ever wondered what life is like on an oil rig — the challenges, the routine, and the behind-the-scenes of real offshore work — this video is for you. From the helicopter ride to daily duties, meals, and living quarters, I take you through the full experience of offshore life. what I usually take with me offshore is: #1 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) #2 Toiletries #3 Clothes 4 Electronic Gadgets Laptop/charger Certificates Passengers are required as a minimum to have the following certificates: A valid health certificate in accordance with local government requirements. Basic offshore safety course And the most important is ID card or passport The usual working shift is 12 hours ‘on’ and 12 hours ‘off’, and many shift patterns are a mixture of both day and night because operations run around the clock with no rig ‘downtime’. Offshore jobs have often shift patterns of 2 or 3 weeks on the rig / 2-3 weeks onshore. Offshore jobs salary depends on your experience and role, however rig engineers can expect to be paid well due to a combination of the specialised skills required, the risks associated with working on a rig, and the personal sacrifices made in terms of working hours and not seeing family.
