Dr. Patel earned his dental and medical degrees from New York University. Following his residency training, he completed fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery. Dr Patel is board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery. From the video: "My name is Ashish Patel. I'm an oral maxillofacial and head neck surgeon. One of the things that's really attracted me to this particular field of medicine and surgery is the ability to have really a profound impact on somebody's life. We look at somebody we immediately recognize them by their face their teeth their smile and that really I think is an integral part of what defines somebody's individuality. I always feel privileged to be able to help people through difficult problems in that region. My father was a mechanical engineer and he spent his whole life building parts for airplane engines and during the summers was worked for him and it was a machine shop learning to build titanium parts for turbines and engines and I really like the intricacy of something so complex and small but when put together runs seamlessly. Surgery for me was the combination of all the things I love most about the complexities and intricacies of the human body and the art and science of engineering." Dr. Patel’s practice includes oral surgery (dental extractions, bone grafting, dental implants), surgical oncology (removal of benign and malignant tumors of the head, neck, mouth and throat), facial reconstruction, trauma surgery, sleep surgery, and corrective jaw surgery. Dr. Patel lives in Portland with his wife and two children. He enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, staying fit, cooking, and exploring the great outdoors with his family.
