Brightline Construction: Palm Bay Siding South Turnout Removal

This Brightline construction update looks at the removal of the south turnout of the former Palm Bay siding in Palm Bay, FL. At the time of removal, this siding was the last legacy passing siding left on the FEC south of Cocoa, with the others all removed and part of the second mainline now and this one following in their footsteps. I look at the removal of the old turnout, preparation of the grade for the new track, installation of the new track panel, ballasting, and finally surfacing, all occurring over about 8 hours. This work is part of Brightline's overall Orlando expansion which involves double tracking the Florida East Coast Railway mainline. Check Out My Social Media Pages!
