I was out for a reccy this afternoon & wasnt actually going to making a video… However I figured while I was out I might as well do a little spring foraging 🤔.. This came about because as i was walking I spotted I a couple of the more common wild edibles available at this time of year 🤔…. so I thought why not just do a cook video when I got home 😁🤷🏻♂️.. Not just for a video but also for a tasty little treat for my efforts looking for another possible camping spot 😎👊🏻…. Not just that but nettles are basically a super food. So on route I picked Cleavers “also known as sticky willys or goose grass” are a great source of chlorophyll, is high in vitamins such as A, C, E, and K. Stinging Nettle “also known as ahhh s**t it stung me 😳😅” is also a good source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, Stinging nettle also contains several B vitamins, including riboflavin (B2), pantothenic acid B5 and folic acid B9. Ramsons “also known as wild garlic or wild leek” contain iron, an essential mineral for red blood cell production. Aswell as Magnesium, Manganese, Calcium, Potassium, Phosphorus, Copper & Zinc . It’s easy to imagine this was probably sought out by our ancestors after a long winter with very little food for foraging 🤔. Remember the foraging rule of 5" which emphasizes five key principles for safe and responsible wild food gathering: 1) Never eat anything unless you are 100% certain of its identification, preperation and edibility. 2) Always forage with a friend or someone experienced. 3) Take only what you need and leave enough for others and wildlife. 4) Respect private property and obtain permission before foraging. 5) Be aware of potential hazards and take necessary precautions. Just a added considerations “if your pregnant seek medical advice before eating any wild edible.. most are not just edibles but are carry medicinal properties so caution is needed” #survival #bushcraft #outdoorskills #foraging #wildedibles #superfood #nettles
