STORYLINE: Friends and relatives of a young Bollywood actress, who was found dead in her apartment, paid their last respects on Wednesday. Jiah Khan was found dead at her home in Mumbai's Juhu neighbourhood later on Monday, police said. Dressed in white, as is traditional at Indian funerals, guests gathered outside Khan's apartment as her body was placed in a flower-laden coffin and carried towards the local mosque. Attendees included well-known faces from the Bollywood film industry, both current and veteran. It was widely speculated that the 25-year-old actress had committed suicide, sending shock waves around the film industry. Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma tweeted on Tuesday that Khan had been "very depressed about her career and scared for her future." Local media reported that police were questioning Khan's friend Suraj Pancholi in connection with the case. Suraj is the son of Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi. Father and son both attended Khan's funeral on Wednesday, where they were swamped by the media. Khan, whose real name was Nafisa Khan, was born in New York and grew up in London before moving to Mumbai. She began her career in Mumbai's film industry in the 2007 Hindi film, "Nishabd", in which she portrayed a teenager in love with her best friend's father, played by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. In her brief career, she performed with other top Bollywood stars, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar. Khan last appeared in the 2010 comedy "Housefull", in which she played a supporting role.
