Raghunathji Mandir, located in the sacred town of Devprayag in Uttarakhand, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Rama. It stands at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, which together form the holy Ganga. This spiritual and geographical union makes the temple a significant pilgrimage site in the Garhwal region. The temple is believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya and holds immense religious importance for followers of Vaishnavism. The presiding deity, Raghunathji, is enshrined in a standing posture, flanked by idols of Sita and Lakshmana. The sanctum sanctorum is adorned with traditional Garhwali architecture, featuring a conical-shaped roof and stone carvings that reflect the region's heritage. According to legend, this is the place where Lord Rama performed penance after killing the demon king Ravana, to absolve himself of the sin of Brahmahatya (killing a Brahmin). The temple's historical and mythological associations draw devotees and tourists alike throughout the year. Apart from its religious significance, the temple offers breath-taking views of the merging rivers and surrounding Himalayan landscape, making it a serene and spiritually uplifting destination.
