Elaine de Kooning, Lee Krasner, Grace Hartigan and numerous other women artists produced explosive works of Abstract Expressionism in the renegade New York art scene of the early 1950s and 1960s. During this home-gallery visit, collector Christian Levett shares highlights from his 100-piece Florentine collection, formed almost exclusively of art by women. The Levett Collection comprises works by the likes of Perle Fine, Yvonne Thomas, Elaine de Kooning and Pat Passlof, among others. 'I didn't have talent, I just had genius,' Hartigan once quipped. The conversation with Linda Falcone of Calliope Arts uncovers the often-irreverent personalities of what became known as 'the quintessential American and modern art movement' and invites art lovers to see first-hand why Lee Krasner's mantra was, 'I never violate an inner rhythm'.
