9 years on a debt-free journey

I think I've been feeling this for a while.😮‍💨 I've paid off almost $150,000 of debt, but I'm still NOT debt free.😫 My story with student loans is long and complicated. But the reality is, their interest rate structure is incredibly predatory. (Yes, even the federal student loans..). The compounding interest has added compounding financial stress to my life for too many years. I've found incredible happiness with my new life situation (ie. low amount of W2 work necessary to sustain my existence) and the financial peace of mind I've found since eroding every single other debt payment out of my life. So it's time to put my federal student loan payment in it's place. It exists in my life and will for many years to come, but I'm finally okay with it.😌 As much as I would LOVE to get to say "I'm totally debt free!", I will no longer give years of my life to financial stress and worry. It's one monthly payment. It's income based. I'm okay with it. Debt paid off to date: $143,849.31 ($99,978.42 in principal, the rest in interest) 😮‍💨 Hello!👋 If you're new here, my name is Rachel.
