Steve Hislop AKA Flying Haggis was born on January 11, 1967 in Hawick. Born into a family of successful club racer, it was no surprise that Steve showed a deep interest in motorcycle from an early age. His journey into the world of motorcycle started after the tragedy with his dad and brother which pushed him to pursue the racing career. He made his debut in Isle of Man TT races from the age of 21 where he achieved his first victory in the year 1987. Not stopping there throughout his career, Steve dominated the race tracks and earned a total of 11 Isle of Man TT victories which also earned him a nickname, Flying Haggis. Then he made his debut in Superbike championship where he won in the year 1995 and then in 2002. He was considered as the fastest man on the racetrack even more faster than the MotoGP racers. However, on an ordinary day on July 30, 2003, when he was exploring his other passion of flying helicopter, where he was seen flying his, Robinson R44 aircraft, something unexpected happened.
