BC Ferries - Quathiaski Cove to Campbell River (Powell River Queen)

This is a ride on BC Ferries Powell River Queen, the namesake vessel of its' class built in 1965. The vessel originally operated on route 7 (Earls Cove - Saltery Bay) until replaced in 1991. Since then this vessel has operated the Quathiaski Cove - Campbell River route. Unlike the Bowen Queen and Mayne Queen, the Powell River Queen does not have lower saddle lounges, which allows it to take more overheight vehicles. We start our video on Quadra Island, departing promptly at 4pm for Campbell River. The crossing itself takes only ten minutes, but in that time we see the entirety of the vessel as well as some of the scenic views (alas not all due to the poor weather!). This video was primarily recorded for posterity, as the Powell River Queen is due to be replaced within the next year by two new 'Island' Class vessels.
