A Kuki-Zo woman from Pangmol Village in Tamenglong district, Manipur, gave birth to a baby girl in Hmarkhawlien Relief Camp, Assam, on the same day her husband's mutilated body arrived in Lamka, Churachandpur district. Nengboi Doungel's husband, Haojoel Doungel, was abducted allegedly by Arambai Tenggol and his decomposed body was recovered in Jiribam. As his wife's due date neared, Doungel had ventured to Jirighat in search of financial aid to ensure a safe delivery for his wife and child but faced a brutal death. Unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded, Nengboi went into labour in the relief camp, the same day Haojoel's body was returned to Lamka.
