This video explains the phenomena of resonance in the shaft. Resonance occurs when the natural frequency of the shaft matches the frequency of external input. In this experiment, the motors provide the external input torque to the shaft at a certain frequency/rpm and when that frequency matches with the natural frequency of the shaft, then the shaft starts to vibrate violently in its mode of vibration. The fundamental mode is followed by other modes as the speed/rpm of the motor is increased. This phenomenon is demonstrated in this video.
