Join me as I venture deep into these forgotten mines hidden in the NZ wilderness, exploring multiple levels of abandoned tunnels dating back over a century. Throughout this solo adventure, I navigate flooded mine entrances, discover mysterious artifacts, and come face-to-face with a remarkable relic of mining history—an ancient steam boiler which has been reclaimed by nature. The journey takes unexpected turns as I find myself temporarily lost in the bush while racing against the setting sun, documenting this piece of New Zealand's gold mining heritage before it's completely forgotten. 🔍 This site is on publicly accessible land, however if you attempt to find it please do not steal any artifacts regardless of their perceived age. Unfortunately many of NZ's historic sites have been ruined in this way. It's disrespectful to both the site, and fellow explorers that come after you. ⚠️ WARNING: Abandoned mines present extreme dangers including unstable ground, vertical shafts, flooding, oxygen depletion, and potential collapses.
