If you are interested in more content from me, my photography can be viewed on Instagram at: / rail_spike_productions About this video: On October 27, 2024, I got some videos of MBTA’s Readville switcher operating in Boston and Cambridge, MA as they shuffled equipment between the north and south sides of the MBTA commuter rail system via the Grand Junction Running Track, a line the connects the two sides but does not feature any revenue passenger trains - only MBTA and Amtrak equipment moves similar to this one. On this day, the locomotive powering the equipment move was MassDOT painted GP40MC-3 1137. It hauled HSP46 2038 and GP40MC-3 1129 (heritage scheme) towards the Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility (Boston Engine Terminal) in Somerville, MA. It returned with two coaches bound for the south side: CTC-5 control cars 1828 and 1814. The combination of multiple MBTA paint schemes on one train made for quite the unique sight in downtown Cambridge on this Sunday afternoon.
