The ancient lands of Kirkpatrick Fleming are located in Dumfries and Galloway, and area central to the history and legend of Robert the Bruce. In this film I go in search of the Bruce Cave, or Cove, and explore the ancient lands where vassals of King Robert, the Irvine (ancient name Irwin) gave him support and loyalty through his cause and the fight against his enemies for Scottish independence during the medieval period. William Irwin (Irvine) lived from 1260-1333 and became trusted vassal and friend of Bruce with the honoured position of standard bearer at the battle of Bannockburn. I explore his lands and property when Irvine legend claims it concealed Bruce when the English search was on for him.
