Now at autumn equinox, the flavour is sweeter than ever, thanks to not watering for three weeks. In this video, I share how I grow and ripen cherry tomatoes of Sakura F1 (red) and Sungold F1 (orange) using no dig methods, sown on 11th March and cropped until late September. The flavour is sweeter, grown with no feed and no dig. You’ll see how I train and support long stems with a simple slipknot method, prune trusses to encourage ripening, and remove lower leaves to keep plants healthy. Stopping watering in early September helps trigger the plants to finish fruiting, though Sungold can split if watered late in the season. The result is sweet tomatoes right through to the end of the month, all with no feed and no dig. Main takeaways from this video: Supporting tomato stems with string and a slipknot Pruning trusses to encourage better ripening Cutting off and composting tomato leaves safely Why reducing or stopping water in September improves flavour Timing: sow mid-March → harvest at the September equinox Filmed on 22nd September by Anne Svenstrup. 📚 Learn more at: 👉 https://www.charlesdowding.co.uk 👉 More on tomatoes: • Garden Fresh Tomatoes, No Dig Required: Fl...
