The FDA just announced its recommendation to schedule 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) as a controlled substance. As someone who's been in the kratom industry since 2007, and who personally believes prohibition often causes more harm than good… this is one decision I actually support. In this video, I explain why: 7-OH isn’t natural kratom. It’s a semi-synthetic alkaloid formed through oxidation or lab synthesis... and not found in fresh leaf. Some vendors have irresponsibly marketed 7-OH as “just stronger kratom,” which it’s not. There is no established long-term safety data on isolated 7-OH in humans. Meanwhile, whole-leaf kratom has been safely consumed for hundreds of years. At Panacea Natural, we’ve had the opportunity to sell 7-OH, but we made a conscious decision not to... even though it would’ve been profitable.
