The Diamonstein-Spielvogel Institute for NYC History, Politics & Community Activism, Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel, Founder/Chair, and the New-York Historical Society Museum & Library present a program of The Diamonstein-Spielvogel Forum on History and the Public Good Series. New York Times opinion writer Margaret Renkl is the author of Late Migrations: A Natural History of Love and Loss (2019), and Graceland, at Last: Notes on Hope and Heartache From the American South (2021), winner of the 2022 PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay. A master prose stylist, based in Nashville, Tennessee, her lyrical writing juxtaposes the natural and man-made worlds, illuminating the complexity of the U.S. South. Editor and writer, Peter Catapano, has created and edited some of the most significant New York Times online series and helped launch the careers of several writers. In 2008, he received a Publisher's Award for his work in pioneering online series. This program is part of the Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel Video Archive at the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Duke University.
