In todays video I'll be starting my How To Build A Shed Series with the framing of a 12 x 10 dock storage building in the Craftsman Style at my cottage on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Woods, in the heart of Canada's cottage country. I'm super happy with the way it turned out and I am looking forward to moving on to the next step of the project. Welcome to Lake Life! Video Details: Today I'll be demonstrating how to build a shed utilizing 2x4 construction with 24" on center stud spacing. The shed dimensions are 12' x 10' with an eave height of 7'6". I will demonstrate how to frame walls using traditional construction as well as balloon framing construction. I will also demonstrate how to frame rough openings for a 32" man door, a 7' x 48" steel roll up door, and a 48" x 16" shed style window. Later, I'll demonstrate how to frame a gable roof. The roof will have an 8/12 pitch with a 16" eave overhang. I will demonstrate how to cut rafters with a plumb cut, a birdsmouth notch, and cut rafter tails. The roof will use 2x4 strapping 24" on center to support snap-lock style hidden fastener metal roofing. #lakelife #lakeofthewoods
