DOCUMENT TITLE: English Guide - Career, Interviews & Duration (Episode 32) PURPOSE: Level B1 (Intermediate). Source material for a peaceful, slow, and extra-long podcast (25+ minutes). GOAL: Teach Present Perfect Continuous ("I have been working"), job vocabulary, and play "The Interview". Segment 1: Job Hunting Vocabulary Keywords: CV (Curriculum Vitae), Resume, Cover Letter, Apply, Candidate, Salary. Discussion Points: The CV: It must be perfect. No spelling mistakes! The Cover Letter: "Dear Sir/Madam, please hire me because I am amazing." The Interview: Wearing a suit, shaking hands, sweating nervously. Segment 2: Common Interview Questions Keywords: Strengths, Weaknesses, Experience, Ambition. Standard Answers: "What is your weakness?" (Don't say "I am lazy". Say "I work too hard"). "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" (Don't say "In your chair"). Segment 3: GRAMMAR FOCUS - Present Perfect Continuous Concept: Action started in the past + Still happening NOW (or just finished with evidence). Formula: Subject + HAVE / HAS + BEEN + Verb-ING. Usage 1 (Duration): Focus on how long. "I have been waiting for 2 hours!" (I am angry). "She has been learning English since 2010." Usage 2 (Evidence): Focus on the side effect. "Why are you red?" -"I have been running." "Why are your hands dirty?" - "I have been fixing the car." Contrast: Simple (Result): "I have painted the room." (It is blue now. Finished). Continuous (Process): "I have been painting the room." (I have paint on my hair. Maybe not finished). Drill (MUST DO): Situation 1 (Rain): It started yesterday. It is still raining. - "It has been raining for 24 hours." (Repeat 3 times). Situation 2 (Tired): You look sleepy. -"I have been working all night." (Repeat 3 times). Situation 3 (Wait): You are late! - "How long have you been waiting?" Segment 4: STORYTIME - "The Eternal Intern" Instruction for Hosts: Read this story slowly. It focuses on duration. Story Text: "Bob is an intern. He works for free. He started on Monday. He thought it would be one week. But Bob has been working there for 5 years. He has been making coffee every morning since 2018. He has been photocopying documents for 2,000 days. His boss, Mr. Grumpy, forgot to hire him. One day, Bob asked: 'Sir, when do I get paid?' Mr. Grumpy said: 'Paid? But you have been working for free for so long! Why change now?' Bob quit. Now he has been sleeping for a month." Segment 5: Office Idioms Keywords: Burnout, 9 to 5, Climb the career ladder, Call it a day. Discussion: Burnout: When you are totally exhausted from working too hard. Call it a day: "Stop working and go home." Segment 6: The "Job Interview" Game (Interactive Finale) Concept: Using Present Perfect Continuous to make excuses. Rules: Anna is the Boss. Lukas is the terrible Candidate. Round 1: Anna: "You are late. The interview was at 9 AM." Lukas: "Sorry. I have been looking for a parking space for 3 hours." Round 2: Anna: "Your clothes are wet and dirty. Why?" Lukas: "I have been fighting with a bear outside." Round 3: Anna: "Your eyes are red. Are you crying?" Lukas: "No. I have been watching sad movies all night." Round 4: Anna: "Why should I hire you?" Lukas: "Because I have been waiting in the lobby since last Christmas!" Action: Lukas should sound desperate and messy.
