😬 I Almost Didn’t Share This: Doodling Ditsy Florals With Caran d’Ache Gouache (Paint With Me)

#gouache #paintwithme #gouachepainting I don’t know if this is considered as “Doodling”, but I created this page of mostly tiny florals as a brainstorm for an upcoming video where I will be painting on relatively small surfaces. I don’t need large designs, so I divided a sheet of watercolor paper into smaller sections in various sizes so I can just quickly create mini designs using gouache. It feels like doodling to me! When I was painting this, I was overall pretty happy with the majority of the designs except for the largest panel. I was not liking where it was going and it was at that moment I thought I would scrap this video entirely. After a few days, I revisited the largest panel with fresh eyes and went over the design with Turner Acryl Gouache off camera. Sometimes, when I’m painting and filming at the same time, I find myself feeling pressured about putting out “perfect-looking" work. And when it’s not up to expectations, I feel hesitant about sharing. Anyway, this is all to say that sharing your work online often comes with a lot of self-doubt and it’s still something I’m working on.
